Mapping the Nature, Prevalence, and Consequences of Contemporary Workplace Sexism Across the Globe
The goal of this project is to examine cross-national differences in women's perceptions of the prevalence of different forms of workplace sexism, and to examine the associations of workplace sexism with women’s job satisfaction, self-esteem, and mental well-being.
While keeping in mind that workplace sexism is an ever-present and multifaceted beast that includes hiring and pay discrimination, gender stereotypes, and sexual harassment, in this study, we focus on sexist attitudes expressed by work colleagues towards self-identified women.
To this end, we have developed the Workplace Sexism Screening-Questionnaire (WSS-Q) - a concise 20-minute questionnaire that screens for women’s exposure to workplace sexism and its consequences.
