Gender stereotypes

Discrimination based on gender stereotypes is one - if not the - main barrier to women’s better representation in economic and political leadership. Thus, the question whether gender stereotypes can change is paramount.

In this project, we analyze archival data, such as leader obituaries with novel technology (data and text-mining) to investigate change in the descriptions and evaluations of women and men with leadership roles over time.
